Why are they on the list? The talent in this band is off the charts. And the fact that these young guys haven't hit their full potential, makes it scary.
This band is #1, not so much with what's going on now, but what is going to happen in the near future. Their new music is going to come out soon and they just picked up one of the hottest up-and-coming management companies. This is probably TDCs riskiest #1 pick, but they can end up being the biggest. This should be fun to watch.

Why are they on the list? I heard the song Resolve To Fight and my decision was made.
This band could easily go straight to a major or get an upstream (or downstream) deal and start on an indie. There is no doubt that label's are interested. With this kind of material, this band could really get the deal they want. It's probably not about what label's are interested in them but what labels are THEY interested in. I look forward to getting to know this band better. This is the highest debut on this new list.

I've seen this band hustle to two shows, an hour apart to play. I've seen them with great fan-band interaction and they always have smiles on their faces. Them being unsigned is more about them being patient rather than label's not wanting them. Believe me, they are wanted.

Why are they on the list? Their music is timeless.
I said earlier that music is cyclical. The only thing holding this band back is the fact that they might be making music now that we will listen to in a few years. They might be ahead of the trend. Labels don't like to predict trends, they follow. But I have no doubt a label will pick them up because their songs will stick in your head for weeks. Oh, and they are a very fan-friendly and a hardworking band.

Why are they on the list? They have some of the most emotional music out there right now.
A lot of the new music today doesn't capture emotion. Brightwood does and does it well. I listened to this band for about a year on the road, never realizing they were unsigned. Their new album comes out in July and I cannot wait. I have a lot of high hopes for this band.

Why are they on the list? They have great songs and there is just something about them.
TDC has a history of putting brand new bands in the Top Ten. We did it with Forever The Sickest Kids (Jan. '07), The Maine (Jan. '07) and Brave Citizens (Jan. '08). Why are they on the list? They have a very commercial, raw and muddy rock sound. Bands have been making a living off the muddy sound for years (Nirvana, etc.). TDTN will soon.

This band recorded their new music with Beau of Saosin. No, they don't sound like Saosin but the production is excellent. They only have one new song up but I've heard the album. This band will sell albums to the Taste Of Chaos crowd. Watch them grow fast. Oh, and they have toured Japan already.

Why are they on the list? This guy does it all. He's a singer/songwriter and producer. This is a label's dream come true.
The arrangement of his songs are very smooth and the lyrics are heartfelt. There is so much talent just brewing in Goot's music. Look for him to start getting serious about touring and making him a valuable unsigned artist. Someone needs to sign him and give him a studio. Why are they on the list? There are very few post-hardcore bands that can do it right. This band does and brings the melodies.

Why are they on the list? What hasn't this band done? They have even played for the U.S. Troops in Iraq and the Middle East. By far, this band was pushed by staff more than any other.
The lead singer has a radio voice and they have an extensive tour history. They recently signed an entertainment deal with the USO, which means they will be performing for our Troops for awhile. It will be fun tracking this bands progress.

Why are they on the list? This band brings a fresh, "feel good" sound to the list and enormous potential.
With potential alone, this band could deserve a Top Ten spot. But they have to sort out some member changes and hit the road before they get too high. They will be there soon, though. I just love this band. Oh, and just because there are females in the band, doesn't mean they sound like Paramore.

Why are they on the list? Right now, it's because of talent and experience. With former members of Rory, this band has the connections to get things done. They should easily get shows and on tours, once the songs are polished.

Before we start the new Top Unsigned list, TDC wants to bring you 5 New Bands with less than 30,000 plays. And they are:
1. A Moment Below (CA) - This band has Equal Vision all over it. This band likes to keep you guessing as they have no pictures and a thought-provoking bio. TDC will be following this band closely.
2. OhMie (CA) - If this former lead singer of Everdae can write songs like Medicine, this guy can have a great synth-pop career.
3. Sun From Shadow (CA) - This will be a future Top Unsigned band. They are young with a ton of potential.
4. Sealife (IL) - I know almost nothing about this band but I like the songs.
5. Kinch (AZ) - This band is for all the Pitchfork readers. These guys are hardworking with tons of potential.
